more mobile goodness
i just found this from a post on digg and this thing rocks! tappity.com will “mobilize” just about anything for you. most importantly rss feeds!
30Boxes is a great web application and made even better that i am able to access my calendar via my phone. not just view but add, delete, todo lists and more. but my one annoyance was the fact the i only got one day at a time (for the mobile version). sure i can change the day but once i get to that day what is scheduled around that day?
step in tappity. i had tried work arounds like using RSSInclude to insert the feed into a backpack page but it uses an iframe but that doesn’t work on the phone. tappity “mobilizes” rss feeds for you and in a way that wap browsers can read so it looks like a normal list! very nice. not only will it do this for rss feeds but normal websites as well. for digg i think it just redirects to diggriver but for lifehacker and others it normalizes the font and removes stuff you don’t need. i can’t tell you how annoying it is to get a page that the article is one word wide all the way down because of advertisements or menus on the left side.
not only does tappity do webpages as links it also allows you to add search engines! so i have google, wikipedia and yelp all in one search text input box. all i have to do is input my search, go down one box, pick the engine i want to use and search. just like the search box in firefox.
the really nice thing about tappity is that your home page is fully customizable via web browser, the one on your computer. click and drag your link section to order them the way you want. add your yahoo pipes and its like you never left your real computer.
